I fear dying painfully and I fear dying young and I fear dying unnoticed, but I don't fear death as such.

The Death Thread
by Open mind indo you fear death?
i typed in "fear death" into the search feature and it looks like jwd hasn't had a "death thread" in quite a while.
i'd really enjoy hearing the perspectives of current posters.

Here in SA, last week Monday was a public holiday - Freedom Day. Thursday was Workers Day, and Friday was a Holiday because we missed some or other holiday earlier in the year due to easter, so I took Tuesday and Wednesday off to complete the week
Ah Well - I am already 4 hours into the day and things aren't as bad at work as I thought they would be, so the insomnia and knots in my belly last night were all for nought!
Have a great May Day everybody!!!

Are we hyper-sensitised to JW changes? Do we exaggerate their importance?
by yadda yadda 2 insometimes i think we lose all perspective at times on here.
that we are just as prone to over-magnifying any meaning behind relatively minor changes like this in the organisation in the same way jw's are prone to over exaggerate every bit of bad news in the world to mean armageddon is near.. when you sit down in the cold light of day, this change to the bookstudy arrangement for example, is it really that much a big deal?
i strongly doubt it really, despite initial reactions (including my own).

This is exactly what I was trying to say in my thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/157292/1.ashx, but I think Yadda Yadda has been more eloquent than I!

I am a girl and I lovedFightclub - I loved the twist in the end.
I did not much like the Matrix - I only saw the first one when it came out and I have to say at the time I didn't get the fuss, but maybe if I were to watch it again (with the whole red pill blue pill thing in mind) I would enjoy it more?
LOTR were great - I loved them and am glad glad I saw them because I dont know if I would have had the staying power to read the book - I am not a huge fan of fantasy.
I haven't seen The Village.

Lol at Hot Choc - the robot thing gets everybody - goodness only knows how we came up with that one!!! I think that South African Engish tends to be more like Aussie and Brit English than American, but we really do have our own take on some things!
I love the way that language is animate and ever evolving,
I thought of a few more:
"Pavement" for "Sidewalk",
"Biscuits" for "Cookies",
"Cell Phone" for "Mobile",
"SMS" for "text",
"Lounge" for "Living Room and
"Couch" for "Sofa"
We call a barbecue a "Braai" and we call "trainers" or "sneakers" - "tekkies".
"Thongs" are called "Flip Flops" or "Slip Slops".
BTW, in SA, a fanny refers to a girls no no bits as well, and not the bum!

Here in South Africa, we use the word "dummy" for "pacifier", "nappy" for "diaper", "lift" for "elevator" and "robot" for "traffic light"!

What if?
by startingover inmy memory is lacking but i seem to remember back in the late 70's early 80's that the treatment of those df'd was softened.
i remember it being ok to say hello for a while but then they clamped down again.
if i'm not mistaken, it was about the time of the ray franz departure, and if i'm not mistaken he was partly responsible for the softening.. it has been mentioned that there may be a high level apostate in ny.
